Why do you do what you do?

I’ve always loved watching investment consultants make plans for their clients, whether those plans are for helping their children, assisting their parents, or living out their dreams. This is the same approach I take, when I work with our investment consultants. I want to make sure there is a plan in place to support their business.

Which leadership skill was the most difficult to develop?

Listening. As my career continued to evolve, I took on various positions in the realm of management or sales. Moving into these roles, my initial instinct was to show how I could make you, platforms, or systems better versus listening to the other person present the situation first. As I learned to talk less and listen more, this helped to create a more conducive environment for problem-solving, planning, etc.

What are the most important decisions that you face daily as a leader in your organization?

First and foremost is making sure our investment consultants are getting everything they need to be successful. Specifically, a focus is working with our offices to make sure that there is a succession plan in place, in case something should happen, so that their business, spouse, and clients are taken care of and protected.

What do you feel most grateful for in life?

It is so gratifying to have the privilege of being a trusted advisor to my clients and of being able to work in that capacity, while also having the flexibility to be there for my husband and children.  It is a challenging balance to be a working mother, but I enjoy the fullness of my life!

What do you love most about being a financial advisor?

It is truly a wondrous experience to see a plan that you have worked on with a client begin to unfold for them. It is gratifying to know that, because of my efforts, knowledge, and care, a client has sought a goal like sending a child to college without student loans or has pursued a dream like traveling extensively in retirement on an income stream that our team created and implemented.

How are your personal qualities reflected at work?

I am detail-oriented person, so I have developed many of our team’s processes in an effort to ensure a top-notch client experience in both planning and service. I believe this attention to detail makes clients comfortable and confident that I am looking out for their best interests to the best of my abilities.

What lesson have you learned in your career that has shaped who you are?

Everyone has a lot going on in their lives, so listen when they need to talk and help in any way you can. This lesson applies to everyone you interact with including your boss, peers, employees and clients so make sure to always be aware of their situation and how it may impact your current interaction. Once I understood this and applied it to my daily communication with others, it helped to build much stronger relationships that run way deeper than the work environment and create lifelong friendships.

Why do you get excited about what you do?

I have been very fortunate in my career to bring quality individuals together to form exceptional teams, and that continues today with Ascent. Everyone’s journey to get where they are currently with their practice is different. Having the ability to bring people together under the top broker/dealer in the industry** and provide them the support of our team while continuing to allow them to build their business in the manner they please has been the perfect continuation of the fortune in my career.

What are you most grateful for?

I am extremely grateful for my wife MaryAnn and watching our two beautiful daughters grow into exceptional young woman. Combined with our extended circle of family and friends who are always ready to share in a laugh and create great memories continually shows me how fortunate I have been in my life.
